Ivi Adamou Reveals Three Songs for Cyprus

As expected, Cypriot broadcaster CyBC released the three candidate songs for Ivi Adamou, who was internally selected to represent the island nation back in August.  In alphabetical order, they are:

1) “Call the Police” (written by Lene Dissing, Jakob Glæsner and Mikko Tamminen)

2) “La La Love” (written by Alex Papaconstantinou, Bjorn Djupstrom, Alexandra Zakka and Viktor Svensson)

3) “You Don’t Belong Here” (written by Niklas Jarl, Alexander Schold and Sharon Vaugh)

A National Final will be held on January 25.  Cyprus has only made it into the Finals twice since the Semifinals were introduced, and one of those was due to an automatic qualification.  They haven’t made it into the Top Ten since 2004’s “Stronger Every Minute“…will Ivi bring them back to the left-hand side of the scoreboard?

  1. I can already tell: All the fans are going to go for “La La Love”, (and let’s face it; it IS catchy…) It’s probably a good choice, modern sounding and memorable etc. and I think it will be the one they pick. However I predict a Kati Wolf-esque result in the end. Qualified, but a bit of a let down in the final. Good luck to Cyprus!! 🙂

Part of me is reserving judgment until I hear them performed live, but I’m pretty optimistic that Cyprus will give me a nice gift on my birthday. 😉

  3. My favorite is “call the police” !

All three songs are quite equal however and I won’t be growling on their choice as I did for the Swiss and the Albanians this time.

  4. By the way, tonight is the first Latvian semi-final. I don’t know if it means anything but the only song charting now in Latvia (according to the Appchart homepage contents) from that selection is the one sung in Latvian ! An omen ?

    Sorry for being off topic.

    • Now I know there was no omen at all…
Interestingly enough, having chart success in Latvia does not mean that the song is popular enough to go through to Eurovision to the eyes of the Latvian !!!
