Semifinal 2: Hopes and Expectations…

ESC2013_butterfly_backgroundOk, so it looks like I guessed seven out of ten for Semifinal One, swapping Croatia, Serbia, and Austria in for actual qualifiers Belgium, Estonia, and Lithuania.  Will my predictions fare any better for Semifinal Two?

Most of the fan-sphere seem to concur that tonight’s Semi will be decidedly more closely-fought than Tuesday evening’s show.  I’m steadying myself for heartbreak, but hoping for the best, since more than a few of my personal favorite entries appear on stage tonight.

My expected Finalists from Semifinal Two are:

  • San Marino
  • Azerbaijan
  • Finland
  • Malta
  • Iceland
  • Greece
  • Norway
  • Albania
  • Georgia
  • Switzerland

My personal Top Ten, however are:

  • Azerbaijan
  • Finland
  • Malta
  • Iceland
  • Greece
  • Israel
  • Armenia
  • Hungary
  • Norway
  • Albania

So, how disappointed will I be tonight after the results flit onto the screen? Let’s find out in a few hours, shall we?

  1. San Marino
    Azerbaijan
    Finland
    Malta
    Iceland
    Greece
    Norway
    Albania
    Georgia
    and
    ***BULGARIA***, dang it!

I don’t care! I LIKE Bulgaria! A pox on all y’all’s socks for not liking Bulgaria!

I guess I’ll give Bulgaria’s slot to Hungary if they don’t qualify. But I won’t be happy about it.

I don’t see Switzerland having a snowball’s chance in, uh, hmmmm … Well, I just don’t think they’re going through.

    • Samantha Ross

Oh, I like Bulgaria, too! I had 13 songs in my “top 10”, I just had to winnow it down. 😉

  2. How unexpected…

I wanted to be happy about Finland actually making it, and yet? I am just not sure we deserved it.

    • If only Finland rose more to the occasion, or if the performance looked more like the UMK Jury performance; that was by far my most preferred face of Marry Me.

Let’s spread a rumour that Mr. Iommi is renouncing his British citizenship! It would be well-founded by the fact that the United Kingdom forgot to give anything to his “fine work” on behalf of Armenia, no?
