Preview: First Hungarian Semifinal

For the first time since 2008, Hungary will be holding a National Final in order to determine its representative at Eurovision.  (2011’s Kati Wolf and 2009’s Zoli Ádok were both internal selections.)  After Kati’s relative success last year (bringing Hungary to its first Final since 2007, and becoming a bit of a fan favorite), a wave of renewed interest in the contest brought nearly 200 songs to the offices of MTV.  The first ten of these songs will be performed tomorrow in the quest to find “A Dal (The Song)”. Twelve Finalists Revealed in Finland

The Finnish Top Twelve (or, arguably, Fifteen) were revealed today on national broadcaster YLE, after a jury had whittled down the 540 nationwide applicants to a worthy few.  Twelve songs were handpicked by a jury consisting of musical professionals, but a thirteenth song will be up to the decision of the viewers of this year’s “Uuden Musiikin Kilpailu”.

Cyprus has decided: it’s “La La Love”!

Norway picks MGP’s First Three Finalists

Denmark has Decided: it’s Soluna Samay!

After an exciting National Final, 2012’s Dansk Melodi Grand Prix wrapped up today with one singer reigning supreme: twenty-one year old Soluna Samay will take “Should’ve Known Better” to Baku. After a nine-song contest and a three-song Superfinal, Soluna took a somewhat slim win over runner up Jesper Nohrstedt’s “Take Our Hearts” (110 points over Jesper’s 102…bronze medalists Christian Brøns & Patrik Isaksson scored 88 points with “Venter”).
